Trip on Douro River

Christina and I took a river cruise on the Douro River in Portugal this summer.

Looking out over the city of Lisbon

Cute little side street
Christina and Margie about got stuck in the subway door. They weren't quick enough. We loved riding the public transportation system there. We rode the buses, subways, taxis, and veniculars. What a beautiful city.
Everyone sitting down to dinner in Lisbon. We went to dinner here on our first night and tried all these different dishes. Decided to come back our last night and all ordered the same dish to eat and boy was it yummy.
Fun little character in Estoril, Portugal by the beach.

Catacombs at the University in Coimbra, Portugal on the way to Porto.

Arrived on the boat in Porto, Portugal. The Douro River in the back of us.

Karlene, Christina and Ellen in a night shot of the bridge in Porto.
On our balcony on the boat going through a lock on the river. We couldn't be on top because of low bridge.
Looking down into the town of Lamego.

Then we walked down all these steps to get to the bottom
Playing cards and farkle out on the deck.

Walking up the bell tower and Christina got there just as the bells started ringing. OH, MY how loud they were.

Duoro River Cruise through Portugal, 6/29-7/14

Christina and I left for Lisbon, Portugal on June 29th and arrived on June 30th in the evening. We had an 8 hour lay-over in Edmonton and a 6 hour lay-over in London. Lisbon was a very beautiful city and lots of fun. We had fun riding the subway and finding our way around the city on public transportation. I love being in Europe and seeing the architecture of the old buildings that the US doesn't have. The beautiful Cathedrals, stained glass and delicious food was out of sight.

SUMMER TIME

Summer is here, but it doesn't feel like it. School is out for David, Christina and me. Yeah!!!! David spent his first week of vacation camping with school friends than off on a weekend trip to Disneyland. As for me I spent the first weekend in Utah picking up Christina, only to have her sprain her ankle so she could get out of moving her stuff out of her apartment. So mom carried all her stuff down three flights of stairs and up one to the car. What a work out since one suitcase was overweight at the airport. We met up with Colton, Sherry and Jessica Petersen in Salt Lake and had a great visit with them. We shopped for bridesmaid dresses and were very successful and even found shoes to match. Then we watched UP 3D and had some great laughs. We missed Jennifer being with us, but she had too much homework and couldn't come down for the weekend.

WELL

Well, I guess it is time for a update... Mom does not do a good job at this, but then again how many people know we as a family have a blogspot. I know I look at it to see what my mom has done. I see not to much.
Ok fast update. Christina is home from the mission she was serving for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved it and is glad to be home with her FAVORITE sister (Jennifer, ok that may not be the only reason but I must be byuse to my self.) She is not attending BYU in Provo or should I say she is back in school at BYU.
Jennifer finished working at the daycare she was working at and left for Las Vegas. While there she turn 21. She is now back at school at BYU-Idaho.
Sherry is back at schoo at BYU-Idaho. She will come home and have her internship. She will be working ata floral shop in Concord.
David is David playing on the computer and being gone every weekend. I am not 100% sure what he is up to.
Mommy is taking classes and trying to get done.
That about it for now. Hopefuly Mom starts to update this, but if not oh well.

New Year, Older Family

Here it is 2009 already and January is already half over. Sherry went back to BYU-I January 1st and is enjoying her classes and having fun at school. David just finished his first semester of his JR year at HS. His favorite classes are Robotics and Marching Band. Jennifer is home on break and is looking for a job, which she is finding is difficult in today's market. I am in my fourth quarter at CSUEB and if I stay on track will graduate with a BS in Business Administration next summer. Christina has six weeks left on her mission and will be released on March 11th. I am flying back to pick her up and we will visit NY and people and places from her mission.

My mom just had total knee replacement surgery and is re-couping at our house. David and Jennifer have been good nurses to her while I am gone. This is are favorite family time for the month playing the Wii together and laughing.

Well

Well it has been a long time since we have updated this. We all have been busy. Mom is taking classes at DVC and East Bay.
I am at home for the summer and I am loving it. I am taking BART into Oakland and having fun without clases. I just completed my 5th semester and only have 4 more to go. I should be done by time 2010 is over.
David is David. He has many Band things going on. His driving is coming along but does not want to drive with mom but will drive with other people.
Sherry is in Rexburg, ID. She is on her second Semester. She is having many adventures while she is at school. She will have completed a year in July. She went to Jounior Prom and loved it. This is her and her date, Zach Lambson.
Christina is now in Rocky Hill again... this is a note from her.

The work here in Connecticut is great. We are all working hard to bring people unto Christ. I know that there are many people waiting for us to bring tha gospel to them. I had an experince where My Compaion and I were teaching this couple and My Compaion said that I was from California. The man said, "What are you doing all the way out here in Connectuicut?" I told him that I am here teaching him and others about christ and his gospel. I know that as we all work diligently to bring our frnds, family and neigbors into the gospel, and that we and they will be blessed. I know that this work is truely an amazing work.
